Divisions

Welcome to SIP Divisions

We have 7 unique divisions within our Society that focus on various scientific disciplines.

  • The Bacteria Division is a multidisciplinary group from academic, government, and industry backgrounds with a common interest in bacteria causing invertebrate disease and their potential use as biological control agents.
  • The Division of Beneficial Invertebrates (DBI) addresses diseases of invertebrates that are generally considered as non-pest species. This covers aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates considered to be ecologically or economically beneficial.
  • The Fungus Division promotes scientific understanding of the pathology of fungal diseases of invertebrate animals.
  • The Microbial Control Division (MCD) deals with ideas, knowledge and experience on the biology of insect pathogens and their application in biological control primarily for integrated management of pests in cultivated crops.
  • The Division of Microsporidia seeks to promote interactions among scientists interested in invertebrate microsporidiology (the study of Microsporidia - single-cell obligate parasites of animals and protozoa).
  • The Nematode Division is an association of scientists, students, and other professionals that are involved with nematode diseases of invertebrates.
  • The Virus Division is an association of invertebrate virologists who aim to support basic and applied research on invertebrate viruses.
